The Chicago Chapter NRHS meets on the second Friday of each month at 8:00 PM at the Lincoln Center, 935 Maple Avenue, Downers Grove, Illinois, three blocks south of the Main Street Station on the Metra/BNSF line.  A notice is posted in the building entrance with the assigned meeting room.  The general public as well as members of the Chicago Chapter are welcome to attend.

For our January meeting (January 9, 2009) we will show selections from the "Legends of Steam" DVD series by Marcam Productions.  These videos cover the doubleheader trip made by the steam engines SP 4449 and UP 844 in the Northwest in 2007, plus the journey of 844 to and from its home in Cheyenne to Portland.  Marcam Productions has promoted the high quality of these productions and this will be a rare theatrical showing of them.  For more information on these videos click http://www.highdeftrains.com/LegendsofSteam.html.

At our February meeting (February 13, 2009) we will have a presentation by the noted Chicago-area railroad author and photographer Ed DeRouin.  Ed's presentation will feature his vintage images of Chicago Union Station, a topic that is the subject of a book he authored in 2003."
